Kevin Ackerman

Kevin Ackerman joined Kingcombe Aquacare in 1998, having graduated from Seale Hayne with a BSc in Rural Resource Management.

In the twelve years that he has worked for Kingcombe, Kevin has become BASIS qualified and has gained a wealth of knowledge in identifying and controlling aquatic weeds, specialising in the use of aquatic herbicides.  Such is his knowledge that Kevin regularly presents papers on the subject at The Robson Meeting, which is an annual meeting of Aquatic Biologists, Flood Defence Engineers and others, usually held in England and Wales.

As Environmental Manager, Kevin is responsible for all aspects within the Environmental Division, including providing a range of analytical services for clients within the water environment.  These services include environmental awareness and site surveys, on site risk assessments, river habitat surveys and invasive plant surveys.  He is qualified to carry out river habitat surveys for the Environment Agency.

In 2007 Kevin developed the company’s own environmental awareness plan, resulting in achieving BS EN ISO 14001: 2004 in May of that year.

Kevin is currently involved in aquatic weed control trials, for Crassula helmsii in Cornwall in conjunction with the Environment Agency, and for Floating Pennywort on Pevensy Levels,  East Sussex with Royal Haskoning.
